A Very Special Blossom
Back on August 4th, I linked to a blog contest at Ashwin’s blog.
The link now leads to a 404 error page, so I have disabled the link.
Additionally, there are charges and speculation that the whole thing was a scam.
I don’t know what the truth is. I am willing to give Ashwin the benefit of the doubt, but the fact that links to the former contest pages now lead to 404 error pages does not add to his credibility. Why would you remove the contest pages all together? If he hasn’t had a sufficient number of entries, wouldn’t it still be up? If entries were slow in coming, maybe he could put it on the backburner until things picked up, but wouldn’t the pages still be there?
I don’t know what’s going on. But, both rantbits.com and ContestBlogger have posts on the situation, plus both are offering rewards of their own to participants in Ashwin’s contest.
I’ll join in as well. If you feel that you were scammed by Ashwin’s contest, leave a comment to this post, and be sure you enter your blog URL in the URI field. Let’s give it until September 5th (in case some people don’t check their computers until after the three-day weekend (U.S.)). Then, I will put together a very special Viral Links story with everyone in it, and publish it next weekend.
It is true that the whole contest was a scam, because the “winner” was “blogger slogger”, which was a blog owned by Ashwin.
