Like Wordless Wednesday, but Wordless Tuesday doesn’t sound as good.
I took the above photo of the moon on Sunday evening at about 6:15 p.m. It’s always interesting to see the moon against a blue sky, since we’re generally used to seeing it at night against a backdrop of stars.

I always have to exclaim aloud (and with a pointing finger) to the person nearest to me.
The novelty of seeing something that defies what we expect to see rarely wears off.

This is a cool photo. The tree branches look like hands reaching out to pluck the moon from the sky.

Because even the little I have is pretty crazy.
That is neat, especailly the shadow we cast upon it. Gosh that sky is so clear and blue too.
I see it sometimes too. It makes you wonder about life.
You mean, you all aren’t automatically gripped by the fear that the world is coming to an end? The moon out during the day–what’s next? The sun coming out at night? The world would be turned upside-down! The lands will dry up, we’ll drive around on deserted roads (where the never-ending supply of gasoline to fuel our cars in the post-apocalyptic world comes from is both a mystery and a miracle) and we’ll have weird hair-dos and speak in Australian accents!

Seriously though, it’s much more interesting when you can see the moon out earlier in the day. Evening hours, while still showing blue skies, isn’t quite as interesting as seeing the moon in the afternoon. Have I seen the moon in the afternoon? I think so, but I don’t have any photos to prove it.
I’ve seen the moon in late afternoon, once.
It was definitely pretty bizarre to witness…I had to point it out and exclaim to TWO different ppl, lols.

Of course the moon can be seen in the afternoon - for instance on November 15, it’ll rise at 11:47 a.m. and will be at it’s highest point in the sky at 4:43 p.m. with a moonset at 9:46 p.m. and 28% of it’s visible surface illuminated. (Times are for where I live in Arkansas, USA. The info is available from the US Naval Observatory at http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.php )
