This is Not a Car Blog!

I had 37 spam comments today, 33 of which were automobile related. This isn’t even a blog about cars, so it seems their targetting (if any) is way way off.

In an earlier spam comment, the “person” wrote something along the lines of “Nice blog. I guess you’ll check out mine.” I guess not, because I can tell by the URL that it’s most likely a spam site so I’m not going to bother looking. I’ll just delete your comment and move on.

Then, another earlier spam comment was 133 lines of links for the little blue pill. Yeah, my blog’s not about that either.

Then, one just the other day was bilingual spam (English and Spanish) for, ahem, adult entertainment sites.

The one that tops all was a spam comment with 312 links, all to the same URL, but to different pages, most of which had nothing to do with the URL. A keyword stuffing attempt of some sort, no doubt.

All this spam wastes time and energy. Even with spam filters on eMail, too much junk gets through. Meanwhile, the FTC is worried about cookies–something which can easily be blocked if I don’t want them on my system.

Not that government efforts have done anything to reduce spam, and is unlikely to do so, aside from a few publicity stunts to convince the public otherwise. So, now they are going to fight the cookie menace. Geez. This is how tax dollars get wasted in this country.

Why does it seem like this site of yours is constantly inundated with spam?

I can count on 1 hand the amount of spam comments my blog has seen…*knocks on wood*

I feel like I’m missing out. Er, sort of.

Well.. Trust me!

The day I changed my blog to “Almost a billionaire” with whole bunch make money online blog title…..

I got over 500 spam comments in one day … I think I have killed some innocent comment by “delete all” …

Well…

Joanne …. I think your blog title are too “untouchable” …. too “religious” … I guess. Just kidding.

How many spams do you have now Dan? I wonder if it is a good thing to show how many spams you blocked to show that your website is busy!

So far today, I’ve had 21 spam comments, 20 of which were for cars again.

I don’t think that spam is necessarily a good sign that a website is busy. A lot of them use automated methods, so once they have your URL, it’s automatic. They’ll just keep hitting you until you change your URL or block them.

[...] look at that! My first car post. Maybe all those spammers were precognizant. (Most of my spam comments continue to be car-related. Go [...]
