He looks tough, but can he spin?

Yes, if I put more time into him. ;-)

He was designed to hover, with some sort of anti-gravity system in the bottom snowball, but I liked the position shown, so I didn’t “fire up” the anti-gravity generator.

Glad I could inspire. You created that? Pretty cool!

Yep. Just three spheres and some extrusion, plus some postwork in Photoshop to add a couple things I haven’t learned how to do in the modeler yet.

Neat stuff you’re posting lately. What program is this? I’ve never had the time to look into 3D modeling, but it looks like a lot of fun.

Wednesday’s fellow was modeled and rendered in Carrara 5 Pro. I used Photoshop to crop and add the copyright line. The animation was also done in C5Pro with Fireworks used to save the final animated GIF.

Thursday’s melting man was modeled and rendered in C5Pro as well. Photoshop again used from cropping and adding the copyright.

Friday’s alien visit was modeled, rendered and animated in Carrara 5 Pro. The Earth model is one of Carrara’s included scenes. The ship was something I modeled myself and the texture map, which includes the little engine flame, was done in Photoshop. The texture map was imported into C5Pro, applied to the ship and rendered. It was animated in Carrara. Initially, I output it to a MOV, but did a second output as an animated GIF, which was brought into Fireworks for the final save. If you have Photoshop CS3 Extended, you can also do some effects on video. I tried a couple effects, but nothing ended up being anything I wanted to use for the final scene, so I just stuck with the original, untouched output.

Today’s Snowminator was modeled in Silo and then rendered in C5Pro. The landscape is also one of Carrara’s included scenes.
