Weekendapalooza of Linkity Links

Chris Bloczynski had this link to share this past week: “Introduction to Keyword Sniping.” It’s better than sniping on Ebay because here you could make some money instead of spending it.

Aside from the obvious, here’s another reason you should try to treat other people well.

About 33% of people with cable or satellite TV would drop the service if they could download their favorite shows for a flat fee. On the other hand, when you pay by the show, like you do with iTunes, maybe you’re a bit more selective about what you watch. When you’re paying a monthly fee, you don’t think about cost when you sit down and watch a show. There are many shows that are good entertainment to just sit and watch for a half hour or an hour, but when you need to pay something like $1.99 to watch an individual show, well, there are a great many shows that aren’t worth spending $1.99. Then you can use that hour of time for something more productive.

Quantum dots? Quantum dots may allow data to be stored for one million years. Of course, by that time, computers won’t be able to access something so old. Just try reading a 5-1/4″ floppy disk on your modern computer.

Optimus Tactus keyboard. Wow. A keyboard that’s a rip-off of the iPhone. Mind you, nothing new about this concept. I had the idea for this kind of keyboard years ago. Of course, it wasn’t an original idea; I saw it on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Once again, science fiction has created our future.

Thomas Edison made a “Frankenstein” movie. Neat color changing technology for 1910. I’m sure that’s the result of the deterioration of the film, portions of which were, apparently, not well-preserved.

Money from nothing. A good read on how a government agency can take something defined as “public” and turn it into something only a very small fraction of that “public” (i.e., corporations and/or the wealthy) can actually control.

Pete hasn’t posted anything new in the past week, but he did try to sneak in a new blog theme.

Nina stole a Christmas story while Jeanne offers some inner resources for writing success in 2008.

Jon wants you to show off your stuff. Pop on over to his blog and post about your best photo of the year.

Mark offers a post without direction.

Joanne is AWOL, Rolando got an award, Erina is back, and Mike refuses to make resolutions but Doug makes some and posts some NSFW* pictures. Doug also seems to have a thing for Natalie’s, especially Natalie Dormer, who, if you look up her IMdB profile, apparently has only two facial expressions.

Meanwhile, Mike explains where he’s been and Michelle suggests herself as the mom you want to have and, aw, look at the kitties. I said, “LOOK!

Beth had a busy week while Chris ponders offering a freelance writing course.

*Not Safe For Work. Or Church. Or around children. Or around your parents, the old lady next door, your landlord, your spouse’s parents, your grade school teacher that popped over for a visit, the local prosecuting attorney, your mother’s bake sale sisters, your grandparents, your weird uncle that shouts everything he sees and announces it to the room, your in-car web browser that can be seen by the police officer tailgating you, or the blind salesman.

Well…I didn’t exactly “steal” the Christmas story… just “borrowed” it for a while… :)
