Government to Embrace Web 2.0

Governments are expected to increasingly use social networking and other Web 2.0 innovations as a means of fostering greater participation and dialogue with their citizens, as well as encouraging more effective intragovernment communication.

I’m sure that governments embracing “Web 2.0″ is going to lead to greater “participation and dialogue” with people.

The only difference between that and participating on a normal blog is that, instead of deleting your comment or burying you in digg, they’ll track your IP address, send a SWAT team to your house, shoot your dog, take your children away and throw you in jail. Of course, it could be someone else they’re after, but they barge into your house by mistake.

Maybe I’m just being paranoid. That kind of stuff would never happen, right? Right?

Then again, the Internet will be filtered, so you probably won’t be able to reach your local government website anyway, unless they pay a toll to the various ISPs. But, I’m being paranoid there too, right? Right?

Feel free to leave a comment, but wrap your computer in tin-foil first. ;-)

But, Dan, paranoia is important, right?

Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean you’re not being followed.

But, can you be both paranoid and followed? Aye, that be the question!
