Getting the Shot
Sometimes, taking photos of butterflies or, in this case, skippers, can be challenging.
You move slowly, cautiously so as not to frighten them away. With my camera, I also have to use manual focus. I have to get close, get the skipper in view, and adjust the lens until he is in sharp focus.

And, then by the time you push the button, he’s flown away!
This is part of a short sequence (3 shots) of photos that go together nicely. I think I’ll put them together as an animation sometime.

Nice shot!
I like the way you zoom in the object and focus on the flower.
I will sharpen the image to make the flower more clear. It’s too bad that you did not catch the butterfly.
How about using the shorter shutter to capture the movement of the butterfly. I usually set the shutter to 1/40 or faster with larger aperture.
Thanks!
I do have the butterfly in another shot. He skipped around from flower to flower on the butterfly bush.
I don’t know if my camera is that sophisticated.
I’ll have to dig out the manual.
That is a beautiful close up. Sorry that the butterfly was uncooperative.
I should start publishing some of my photos to my blog also. It’s nice to see some pictures on a blog rather than all text.
