Get Worthless Links with Britney Spears?

About two weeks ago, I posted my “Make Money with Britney Spears” article. While it didn’t become as popular as my “How to Make $1,000,000 Blogging” article, it did bring in some traffic.

It also attracted the attention of the Britney Spears’ scraper sites. Yes, a number of sites out there exist for the sole purpose of scraping content about Britney Spears from other sites. On top of that, they quote someone else as having said this or that.

Odds are, if you’re reading this on one of those sites, and not right here at www.dcrblogs.com or in my RSS feed, it’s probably using a name other than my own. Most likely Cassandra. I don’t know why. Maybe Cassandra is popular among people looking for stuff on Britney Spears. It’s a pretty name, but it’s not my name. I am not Cassandra!

On top of all of that, even though I sometimes get a backlink, I am not sure that the scraper sites pass on any Technorati rating, even if they have a rating of their own. Does Technorati know they are scraper sites? I am guessing not, because why list them at all if you could identify them. I doubt that it’s so that bloggers can see where their copy has appeared, but I could be wrong.

Or could it be that I’m getting Technorati rating from these sites, but not as quickly as I am losing my older Technorati ratings? (Those links expire after a while, so you have to keep getting new incoming links if you want to stay ahead of the game.)

I wonder how many scraper sites will pick up something from this post, since I mentioned Britney Spears? Wait, I need to mention Britney Spears underwear. Maybe I need to write “Britney Spears naked” too. Oh, and Pete loves link love, so I’ll give him this one: “Britney Spears Nude.” There, that should get the attention of the scraper sites.

This will be a good experiment, I hope. This time around, I will pay a closer eye to my Technorati rating to see if the backlinks from the scraper sites provide any value. I’ll post results in the future, though you may have to remind me, lest I forget.

And, once again Britney Spears enthusiasts, I am not Cassandra!

Are you sure you not Cassandra- last time you said you weren’t my Dad. Now you aren’t Cassandra, who are you?

My Technorati juice is falling too… I think some of us could use some drunken pirate viral juice again or something less toxic, yet equally effective.

You’ll just have to keep guessing. Or read my About page.

Viral juice? Did you buy Mike’s telepathic implants? How did you know what I’ve been working on the past two days!? It was planned for Valentine’s Day, but didn’t make it…

I was having a scrapping problem a while back then I added a feed footer I wrote about it in a post I did called Don’t be robbed blind by content thieves. They haven’t been back in a while. It is either the feed footer or I haven’t written anything worth stealing.

Anyway Cassandra how have you been? Poor Britney first she was nothing but a product now they have driven her mad and are taking control of her money.

:)

I doubt it would be either one. I don’t think a feed footer would discourage them. I would guess they may have ways of stripping those out. I guess it depends on the software they use, and since I don’t use such software, I don’t have a great familiarity with its capabilities.

And, I think they will steal anything. I don’t in any way mean to slight your content, as you do have good content, but I don’t think they steal discriminately. I can tell from first hand experience that they’ll scrape the bottom of the barrel in terms of content, so long as their keywords are there!

So, maybe it is the feed footer. But, still, I just don’t know.

No scrapers yet. It’s the calm before the storm.
