Things to Do When No One’s Reading Your Blog
Sooner or later, you’ll realize that showing up is just not enough. Sure, giving up assures failure, but the difference between the person not blogging and the blogger who hasn’t got any readers or income is that the latter is spending a lot of his or her time to achieve the exact same results as the non-blogger. So, what to do during those periods of inactivity? Here are some ideas.
- Lament the fact that WordPress cannot number lists in reverse order.
- Link to a recent post you thought was good but no one read.
- Scratch your head wondering where you went wrong.
- Start a new blog that no one will read either.
- Cry yourself to sleep at nap time.
- Post a picture of your cat.
- Repeatedly check your stats in the vain hope that someone read something, anything.
- Post a picture of your sidewalk.
- Repeatedly check your advertising and affiliate stats to see if anyone bought anything.
- Duct tape your shoes back together.
- Leave comments on other blogs about how the economy is in the toilet.
- Post picture of drywall.
- Buy something on eBay.
- Write inane lists because the probloggers say people love lists.
- Get back to work at real job.
I know I’m no one, but I’m reading it just the same!
Thanks! I’m actually doing okay on RSS readers. That’s only down by 10 overall. But, visits to the actual blog have dropped to alarming levels.
i’m here too dan. when i feel that no one is reading, i just try and come up with something witty that will draw attention, although it usually doesn’t matter

I like Michelle’s “Thrift Store Rip Off Thursday” title. I’ll have to make one up. Maybe something like “My Kids Took My Camera Phone Again and Filled Up the Memory with Blurry Pictures Saturday.” I’ll have to work on the title length.
Yeah, “Thrift Store Rip Off Thursday” is good, but I don’t go to thrift stores on a weekly basis.
