Well, That Was a Complete Burn-Out

Flame

Apparently, none of my readers have any motivation, since this little drawing was a complete bust. And, I was worried about having less than five entrants. I suppose I should have been worried about having none!

I’ll have to try to be more motivational in the future. Light some fires or something.

I caught a big cold two days ago that is so nasty I can’t even
stick my contacts in.
My one eye is practically glued shut and my face is sort of swollen.
I feel like Quasimodo.

It was my fault I caught this cold for bragging about how I
hadn’t gotten sick at all this winter because they gave me a flu shot in the hospital on Halloween when I had #5. Everyone was getting tired of hearing me go on and on about getting flu shots…

So no motivation here- make your contests easier I could use $50…

How about a Lazy (wo)Man Contest and we write about the laziest thing we have ever done. Then you give the winner $50 and the prize is a reward for being lazy. You could call it the Easiest Fifty Bucks You Never Made ~ Lazy Man Contest. And then post it to contest blogger- that’s were all the lazy bloggers are- looking for fast $$$.

Forget the motivational stuff- none of us are on the internet to actually work or be motivated. We are here to make a fast buck…

Dan,

So sorry not to have noticed this one! I’ve been incredibly busy lately with a new regular contract-writing job, which has severely curtailed my available time for visiting my favorite blogs. Sorry, too, that no one else entered either. That’s too bad.

I certainly would have at least attempted to give it a go if I’d known about it and been able to find the time, since it’s a fascinating topic and one with a great deal of latitude for self-expression. By the same token, though, this type of exercise requires a great deal of thought–introspection and analysis–which could be why many simply didn’t want to tackle it.

It had such great potential, though! If I were you, I’d consider resurrecting it sometime in the future. But, you might need to give people advance notice, really playing it up for a while, before actually posting your challenge. Give people some time to get used to the idea, get inspired, and think about what they might want to say.

(Also, I suspect that if you’d offered a $50 prize, regardless of the number of entrants–maybe just having a certain minimum number of required entrants to give away the prize–more people would have been motivated to enter.) Most probably looked at the possible $5 and $10 prizes and thought it wouldn’t be worth the effort.)

Just a few thoughts!
Jeanne

Thanks!

Actually, the reverse has been true. The number of participants in any of my drawings has been inversely proportionate to the amount of the prize offered. So, the more money I offer, the fewer participants I get. Weird.

Dan,

That is weird. Go figure.
