Success Saturday: Triskaidekapalooza

I wasn’t planning on doing a Triskaidekapalooza for this Success Saturday, but here we are. I have been working on a different post, which I’ve had hanging out in my drafts for a while, but, while doing that, I’ve been browsing too. And, I’ve found some great links to share with you.

So, here they are, in no particular order:

  1. SuccessSoul presents “Warren Buffett’s 7 Secrets for Living a Happy and Simple Life.”
  2. 7P Productions explains “How to Work on Something You Hate.”
  3. You may have seen this on John Chow‘s blog, but in case you missed it… Quick Sprout lists the “10 Reasons You Are Not a Successful Entrepreneur.”
  4. Avani Mehta posted a “Beginner’s Guide to Being Decisive.”
  5. Better Business Blogging identifies the “17 Types of Posts to Strengthen Your Business Blog.”
  6. The Thrifty Entrepreneur (which is one of my blogs, in case you missed it when I mentioned it earlier in the week) introduces you to the basics of “Business Licensing” for startups.
  7. Making Money Online: A Journey of 100 Sites explains “Where to Publish Your Best Content.” It may not be where you think!
  8. Following that, Mr. Javo dot Com tells you how to “Drive Traffic to Your Blog by Promoting Other People’s Content.”
  9. Successful and Outstanding Blog(gers) features “Targeting the Offline Customer: Do You Blog For Non-Bloggers?” by Scott McIntyre.
  10. Michael Kwan of Beyond the Rhetoric did his own success roundup this week in his “What’s Up Wednesdays: Success Edition.”
  11. The WAHM Blog covers “Organizing Your Business for Success.”
  12. And, in case you still need a job while you try to build your own business empire, Lillie Ammann details “How to Write an Interview-Winning Resume.”
  13. Finally, if you’re ever feeling discouraged, check out Andy Crofford‘s “Don’t Give Up” post.

That’ll keep you busy for a while. I may or may not have a second post today, depending on how late it is when I finish the regularly scheduled post!

Hi dcr – thanks for including my article on the list.

Oh, and happy blog-birthday. Here’s wishing for many more!

  2. You should have posted this on the Thrifty Entrepreneur or at least a link to this one

“Quick Sprout lists the “10 Reasons You Are Not a Successful Entrepreneur.”

Or perhaps you can expound on it your site. I can think of more then 10 reasons success is elusive… the list is good, but some of the list items he could have gone into a tad more detail or dove deeper into getting out of faulty thinking or behavior patterns that stop people from achieving. I like a bit more substance to self help posts- and leave the lists and fluffy stuff to say vintage junk. ;0)

    Hi dcr – interesting list!

I’m already familiar with some of these blogs, but there are some new ones for me to check out. Thanks!

    Cheers – Robin

dcr – this looks like spam to me – I’d delete it! (I think she’s just trying to get hits on her site)

  5. dcr says:

    You’re welcome, and thanks!

  6. dcr says:

She does that a lot. Some days, she comes here and talks about vintage Underoos. You know what she does for fun? She buys her kids these packs of vintage Underoos that they beg her for, then she waves the much-adored NOS Underoos right in front of their happy little faces and says, “nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah, you can’t wear these!” Then, she puts them away out of reach. Won’t even let them look at them again, unless they’re wearing gloves and face masks and the Underoos are safely sealed away in UV-resistant plastic bags. Then, she blogs about it.

  7. dcr says:

Hope you find some you like! Thanks for stopping by!

I’ll put it in the queue. I still have to finish my original Success Saturday post. Oh, well, might have to wait ’til next Saturday, as soon it’s time for Sunday’s post.

  9. DCR,

Thanks for the great list. Looks like I will have plenty to keep me busy today.

  10. Avani-Mehta says:

    Hi,
    Thanks for the link love.

  11. I still don’t think my daughter appreciates the C-3PO Underoos and actually I don’t wave them around. I put them on the fridge with a magnet as inspiration so I can lose enough weight to wear them. I mean aren’t all of us women supposed to aspire to size 0. I can’t wait until I drop enough weight to be able to fit my new $300 Star Wars Underoos. Heck I might even wear them to the beach- LOOK out Lake Michigan.

  12. Or maybe if you are nice I’ll write a guest post on Thrifty Entrepreneur- I have had a million and one ideas running through the head regarding marketing etc. The post about why people are not successful hit a chord with me and one could conceivably write a lot about that.

I am in the middle of launching a store off site of eBay and it is not a walk in the park. I was expecting something a little different then what I got myself into as far as e commerce. I am going with a canned site right now- because I am knee deep in inventory and for Jer to fit me into his que for web development I would be waiting until Fall.

I can’t wait that long because that’s when I am self publishing a book. I really wish there were more hours in the day.

  13. Hmmm I think of a lot more useful ways to get hits on my site then commenting here. Since I am just leaving a trail of spam- I’ll catch you all later.

  14. dcr says:

Hey, I check my stats. I’ve been sending you one click a day for the past three days. I think it’s the creepy guys that comes here looking for underwear picts. I haven’t posted any lately, so then he saw all your comments about Underoos and pops on over to your site. Comes back the next day, is disappointed there are no underwear picts here and heads back to your site again. He’s turning into a regular visitor for you. I should get a commission.

  15. dcr says:

You’re welcome! Hope you find something useful for you!

  16. dcr says:

    You’re welcome!

  17. dcr says:

I knew there was a reason we moved to Ohio from Michigan. It was that creepy woman across the lake standing there in her C-3PO Underoos.

  18. dcr says:

    When I am not nice?

I signed up with eBay’s affiliate program yesterday. I was with them when they were with CJ, but hadn’t re-upped since they went solo. I don’t much care for their new tools. Haven’t found a sidebar thingamabob like I had with CJ. And, the introductory video showing you how to use their new tools was pretty useless. Plus, the one tool that looks like it will do what the tools they had when they were with CJ isn’t ready yet! What’s up with that? You’d think you’d have everything ready before you dump your old affiliate program.

I should finish my eBook, especially since I have ideas for a second one.

  19. “I knew there was a reason we moved to Ohio from Michigan. It was that creepy woman across the lake standing there in her C-3PO Underoos.”

I see what you are doing Dan- you are now trying to be all things creepy on the internet- including the keywords “creepy woman.”

And I want to think you for all the dollars you throw across the lake- to have me standing out there in my Underoos- it’s more money then I make from blogging.

  20. “Hey, I check my stats. I’ve been sending you one click a day for the past three days. I think it’s the creepy guys that comes here looking for underwear picts.”

Ummmm there really is a guy on my site looking for Burt Ward nekkid… I assume he comes from here.

  21. My book is a childrens novel- having five kids makes you get a taste for children’s literature (and pop tarts). I don’t know about your e-book, but I think you should finish Darnella- or did you put that somewhere else. I am very interested in reading the ending of that. Did I miss it? I love fairies and fantasy stories and Darnella has quite an eyeopening beginning I usually can tell what’s going on- but I have no clue what’s going to happen.

  22. dcr says:

I’ve never mentioned Burt Ward here. It’s never come up until you posted it in this comment–hey! I see what you’re doing. You’re trying to send me the nekkid Burt Ward searches instead of them going to your site!

  23. dcr says:

Nope, haven’t finished it yet. Have to find my notes! Well, I know where they are, I just haven’t gotten them out.

  24. Dan,
Thanks for this great list and thanks for including my post.
