Michigan Monday, or Yet Another Reason Pete will Never See a Guest Post from Me

This weekend, while on a road trip, I took a bunch of pictures with my camera phone, in part thinking I could finally do a guest post for Pete. This morning, I saw that Pete is doing Grayscale Week this week.
So, in anticipation of what is no doubt going to be Duotone Week next week, I decided to take one of my photos and turn it into a tutorial into doing Almost Instant Aged photos. The photograph above may look old, but it was taken this past weekend. In color.
The shot is somewhere in Michigan. This past weekend was a great weekend for cloud shots. Too bad my regular (high resolution) camera doesn’t do better with clouds!
Unfortunately, I messed up in my “tutorial” and I don’t really feel like doing it all over again. So, no tutorial for Pete! Maybe I’ll try again later.
Here is the original image:

Link love is in the offing for anyone who can correctly identify where I went wrong!

LOL. I know this is going to be wrong but I know nothing about photography so my guess is that you just used the wrong resolution? Both of the cloud photos look great to me except the top one is slightly cooler because it looks older. It’s slightly tipped though, or is that just my head?
Tipping was intentional. Nope, “wrong resolution” was not the answer! Thanks for playing.
You had mustard on the lens from that giant Hoagee sandwich you were eating ….
No Hoagies this weekend. Stayed at my aunt’s, so we had to eat “healthy.”
I don’t think anything is wrong with the pictures… I think you are just a bitter bitter man who does not want to help Pete out.
Also making new things into vintage is just plain wrong!
Wrong I say- kind of like those stupid cowboy pictures people take of their family dressed in western gear, and the Mom is always dressed like the saloon whore and the Dad is dressed like Wyatt Earp.
Not familiar with those pictures, but I’ve never been to Wisconsin, so maybe things are just different there.
Yeah Dan, all those links you keep sending me must be out of spite! Let the bitterness go…feel the peace within.
I assume it has something to do with the fact that the “after” picture is skewed and the corners are torn. I can’t figure out why it looks like that since it should be a digital image. It almost looks like a printout got messed up in some way.
Hmmn, since it’s something that you don’t feel like “doing all over again” I’m assuming the step-by-step photos that illustrated how you aged the picture must have gotten mistakenly deleted or overwritten.
But I’m guessing it has something to do with those strange dots in the corners . . . .
Nope. But you got close. But I won’t tell you where you got close.
Well I’m definitely no photoshop expert. Cause I’m not sure what you did wrong!
Well, at least you’re honest!
I DON’T BELIEVE IT YOU HAVE VINTAGE MOVIE ADS ON HERE- I JUST SAW AN AD FOR THE GRADUATE!!!! I SLAVE AND SLAVE ALL DAY ON MY VINTAGE BLOG AND ALL I GET IS FRED SANFORD RINGTONES…. I AM SO OUTTA HERE!
Google must like me. You see, Google approves of me doing the vintage stuff over you. You might as well give up on the antiques blogging. Surrender to me. I’ll let you guest post… occasionally.
By the way, you are going to be soooo surprised. Very soon. Muhahahahaha.
Hey, why didn’t my original comment show up!
Anyway, I WILL take the time to redo my comments, unlike SOMEONE who was too busy to redo their tutorial . . . .
Anyway, here’s what I said in a nutshell:
1. The “after” picture is skewed and has torn corners. It looks like it was printed and then mangled in some way.
B. Since you mentioned “I don’t really feel like doing it all over again” I assume the step-by-step photos that show how you got from Point A to Point Z either got trashed, deleted, or overwritten.
III. What I can’t figure out is why the corners have those mysterious dots . . . .
You changed your identity, so you ended up in moderation. You should be good to go now though. Thanks for commenting!
Hey, you are always welcome to guest post. Hit me with a grayscale shot this week and you’re in.
Nice effects on the photo, BTW.
Thanks, and thanks. But, you know how I am with rules…
Could it be that, by posting your copyright notice below the “aged” photo, you’ve in effect admitted that the photo isn’t old?
Nope. That would be easy to undo!
