Photo Phriday: Butterfly

Brickyard Butterfly Conceals Itself in Your Brickwork
(For more wordless posts today, visit Wordless Wednesday.)
I’m actually not sure what kind of butterfly this is. It looks like it’s from the Polygonia genus, but it doesn’t have the notched wings. Other than that, the coloring and body shape are very much like other members of the genus, such as the Comma and Question Mark butterflies.
So, for now, I’m just calling it a Brickyard Butterfly because of the way it seems to camouflage itself. ![]()

I would have thought is was more a mouth with is color. He is so well camoflaged isn’t he! Neat photo!
Color isn’t a reliable determination of moth or butterfly. There are some brightly colored moths out there.
It almost looks translucent-that was so sweet of you to take care of the other butterfly- you are such a softie…
however if you keep posting pictures of butterflies you will have the choice of either of these two fancy new monikers
1) Madame Butterfly
or
2) The Creepy Bug Man
It’s up to you-
I thought your blog was about being creepy- stick to your niche. How are the creepy guys going to find your blog now- if it’s all about butterflies and butterfly rescues?
Yeah, he could pass for translucent, except the insides of his wings were colored in black and orange.
Well, the creepy guys looking for people wearing underwear with butterflies will find me.
I vote for Creepy Bug Man.
You know not all insects are bugs, right? And, butterflies aren’t bugs!
Nice catch - bug are amazing!
Thanks for sharing.

Pet Peeve Tuesday? I’ll have to check it out. Is that where I can write about Michelle?
I think you photoshopped it … (J/K) 8~)
