What they would have done then is started a new series, <i>Stargate Command</i>, which would have basically be what we saw of seasons 9 and 10. That would have lowered costs, as they would have been able to sign the actors up at lower budgets than what they were contractually obligated to do with an existing series. At least, that's what I heard anyway. That would have brought the budget down which would have made it a more profitable show and that might have kept in on the air longer. But, speculation is that the SciFi Channel wanted ten years of <i>SG-1</i> so they didn't go that route. Anyway, that's what I've heard. <i>Stargate: Atlantis</i> is cancelled now, so we'll have to see how they do <i>Stargate: Universe</i>.
