“Real” Video Footage of a UFO Chase
A bit crude, but this is my first attempt at combining 3D animation with actual video footage.
This was all done manually. No video tracking software was used, which might be obvious!
The UFO was a 3D model I’ve used previously, most recently in this post. This animation was created in Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended.

Very cool! I’ve always dreamed about being abducted by aliens and given strange chemical injections
strange chemical injections-
that’s the name of my band!
“All the mavericks in the house raise your hands up!”
*raises hand*
ah i thought/was hoping it was real lol. you’ve got some skills Dan!
Thanks!
Pretty good job , Dan!
Thanks, and now I must write additional text or WordPress will tell me I’m leaving comments too fast. Wake up, WordPress, it’s my blog! I should be able to leave comments as fast as I want to!
not too shabby
i would LOVE to own and lean how to use Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended.
I would love to own and learn how to use Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended!
You are getting scary-good at this stuff. I’m not sure I will be able to trust anything I see at your site from now on.
I explained it wasn’t real…
Please forward me a copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended to my email account … I will return it to you after my Soylent Greens Arugalan dinner.
The alien craft that chases me in the wilderness looks a lot different. Yours must be driven by the big greys!!
(very cool DCR)
Would never work for you. Adobe has an authentication routine now that makes it hard for owners to activate.
I’m allowed to install it on two machines (one desktop and one portable, or something like that). Well, I installed on a machine and the hard drive crashed the same day, so I could not uninstall. But, I installed it on a new hard drive. But, in order to install it on a new computer, I had to call Adobe and uninstall it on the old machine. The old hard drive (that I can’t deactivate the software on) is really messing things up for me. If I ever upgrade my computer, I’m sure I’ll have to call Adobe again.
And, thanks!
Cool! It was so “realistic” I expected to see the oncoming cars swerving off the road!

It’s not like the UFO appears in the middle of filming; it’s there at the start. If I saw a UFO chasing a plane, I’d get my camera out too. So, that doesn’t bother me at all. But, I think it’s fake. A pretty good fake, but fake. If you watch it frame by frame, you can see instances where everything in the frame jumps, except for the plane and the UFO. Those should change position too with the jerkiness of overall filming. They did do a pretty good job of matching up the movement, but a frame by frame analysis shows they didn’t do a flawless job. I know firsthand it’s not easy. My UFO Film. [...]
