Earn Extra Money with Your Own Office Cleaning Business

Last week, I wrote a post with “15 Business Ideas that Don’t Require SEO, HTML or PR.”

Today, we’ll explore #6 on that list, which was starting your own office cleaning business.

These days, businesses everywhere are trying to save money to survive the tough economic period we find ourselves in. Most businesses in the United States will receive little or no help at all from the $700 billion bailout that Congress passed. So, businesses will have to make cutbacks.

Among those cutbacks may be in-house cleaning crews. In some small businesses, the owners will pick up the slack by doing the cleaning themselves. In others, they will look to outsource their cleaning needs. Those already outsourcing may be looking for less expensive cleaning services.

And that’s where you can come in!

If you’re looking for part-time work to supplement your income, or if you’re looking for any work at all because of a job loss, an office cleaning business can be an inexpensive business to get started in. In fact, you probably already have many, if not all, of the supplies and equipment you need right in your own home.

I’ve put together a couple sites with additional information on starting your own office cleaning business. For basic startup information as well as tips on storing your cleaning supplies and equipment, please check out How to Earn Money with an Office Cleaning Business. For little more of a thorough overview, please visit Office Cleaning Income dot Com.

I think you are right on with your thoughts. I know someone who started a cleaning service from home, and now employs about 40 people. With the right tools, this can be a very profitable business.

That’s true. You also have some flexibility as well, depending on your needs. You can grow your business to the point where you’re hiring people to do much of the work or you can stay small and just do enough work to keep yourself busy and earn the income you want, whether it’s for a full-time income or extra money.

I would be okay with that as long as they cleaned their own toilets… I don’t clean toilets. I live with five men - they make the messes and they clean it up!

‘Cept Julian- he don’t piss all over the toilets yet… he’s my favorite!

The ideal bathroom would have tiled walls and floors throughout and a drain in the middle of the floor. That way, you could just hose everything down. ;-)

Yes, absolutely. Just do it on your own computer and record it on video. Thanks!

Just make sure you make no more than $249,999.99 so you don’t get slammed with Obama’s entrepreneur crippling taxation…hahaha!!!! Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself

Get a good accountant. Their businesses will be booming with people trying to figure out ways to save on their taxes. ;-)

I barely made it through cleaning my own home this weekend, I am hardly going to clean up after other folks.

But you can earn money cleaning up for others. Nobody probably pays you to clean your own house. ;-)

There you go!

One of my mom’s former co-workers was a clean freak and got into the cleaning business. She did home cleaning though.

Home cleaning is more my speed. Something that I could do by myself. But how does someone advertise their services cheaply, and effectively?

In fact as a CNA I’ve been trying to get some home care work avoiding agencies to make more money, but advertising has been the problem. I’ve tried Craigslist, but have to much competition. I get very few responses. I’ve had some other ideas in the past, but it’s has always been advertising that has tripped me up.

Do you have a website listing the services you offer? Then, you can use Craigslist, search engines, and other resources to drive traffic to your site, where people can find out more and contact you.

No, I don’t have a website like that. I think I know how to get on a professional one that is already created. Hm, worth a try.
