So, Will You Marry Me? or Rather Random Ruminations on a Saturday Afternoon that has Become Early Evening
Yes, the first part of that title ought to get some attention when it shows up in trackbacks and such.
So these past couple days, I’ve been hanging out on Twitter a lot. But, one reason is that I’ve had a bit of a cold and haven’t felt like doing much else. But, I’m running on NyQuil, Coca-Cola and garlic, so I’ve been mostly okay. Except now the NyQuil is about gone, as in the bottle is near empty, and I think I may be okay now, but we’ll find out later when I try to sleep.
At any rate, sitting down and writing more than 140 characters hasn’t really seemed all that appealing. On top of that, my feet hurt because this chair is not at the right level, plus the chair is not comfortable and while I added padding a month or two ago, that really hasn’t resolved the problem as much as I initially hoped. So, discomfort leads to bad posture, which leads to more discomfort, which makes my feet hurt, which gives me a headache, which I then write about, leading you all to believe I do nothing but complain all day. Really, I don’t. I just answer with the preprogrammed “I’m great!” response and carry on.
Awards
Enough of that, however, and let’s get on to business. First, I’d like to thank Michelle and Speedcat for the awards I think they gave me this week. Unless I read their posts wrong, which very well could be since taking NyQuil during the day isn’t generally recommended. Yes, there’s an image to go with the award, but Michelle said it was optional to use it and I just don’t feel like fighting WordPress right now to upload an image, so just pretend you see one here. Stretch your imagination, and this almost looks like a heart: ¿?
Redesign
Earlier this week, or maybe it was last week, at this point does it matter which week it was? I don’t think so. The point is that it’s done and it was earlier at some point in the recent past. And that thing that was done was Pete’s redesign of his blog. Pete’s having flashbacks to like 1997 and putting white (or colored) text on a black background. Good for photos; a bit questionable for reading. Let’s see what some other graphic designers think by calling out Michelle and, well, I guess that’s the only other graphic designer blogger I can think of right now. Okay, let’s call out some Twitter friends who are graphic and/or web designers and/or artists too: BlueWave Media, Adam Carn (I think he may side with Pete), Joel Drapper, Traci Knoppe, Desk Coder, Mirko Humbert, Dorana Design, Ashley Daigneault, Kathy Ostman-Magnusen, Tara Joyce, Noadi’s Art and others I’ve probably missed. Aw, isn’t that cute? Hayden Panettiere actually thinks people care what celebrities think. I mean, if people can read dialogue like this while keeping a straight face, can we really trust anything actors and actresses say? I’m not a whaling fan though.
My Wedding Reception
I normally don’t talk about my dreams because, well, no one cares! But, I had one the other night that was odd on so many levels. Apparently, I had gotten married and the reception was in my basement. And, my bride and I were at that part where you do the arm twist thing and take a drink from each other’s glass. Well, since I don’t drink, I had water, but she had white wine. So, naturally, when you switch, I’m drinking wine and she’s drinking water. I mentioned in the dream that this wasn’t a well-thought out plan, or something like that. And, considering this is taking place next to the furnace and by the shelves of canned goods and soda, it was even more odd. I was aware that there were guests, but never saw them, and I have no idea where they could even be, because it’s just really not feasible to have a wedding reception in the basement.
Just weird. But, you know how dreams are usually just a manifestation in some way of your waking life? For example, you might watch a TV show or movie, and then those characters appear in your dreams. Or, your dreams may involve friends or family or co-workers and such things. And, you might have a whole mix of things, real life situations with TV characters or TV characters involved in real life situations and so on. Usually, it’s just your subconscious mind either working things out or just kind of summarizing the day in unexpected ways. But, when you get up, you can generally figure out why you dreamt of such things, you know?
But, what about when the faces you see are not people you’ve met or seen? They’re not family or friends. They’re not celebrities. They’re not the faces you see posting comments on your blog or following you on Twitter. Does your mind just make people up? If so, why? I’m probably over-thinking it anyway. It just strikes me as a bit odd when I have a wife or something in a dream, and she’s a face I’ve never seen before.

I’ve got videos to put up for Teeni and Deborah. But, (a) I really don’t feel like it right now and (b) YouTube seems to be sluggish today, which are both good reasons to put it off until another day.
Shout-Outs
I haven’t been visiting enough blogs lately for three reasons: (a) Twitter, (b) NyQuil and (c) working on my eCommerce site last weekend and thereabouts. So, I’ll just give some shout-outs to people like Mike, Beth, Doug, Rolando who changed his theme (again!!!), Erina (she’s back!), Greeneyezz, Awake in Rochester (who swears she’ll stop the political posts Wednesday), Joanne (who’s back sometimes), and countless others I’ve no doubt overlooked. And, a shout-out to Bobby who’s still trying to figure out who I’m voting for and Speedcat, whom I’m still undecided on whether to re-elect as Mayor and Lord Dictator of Hollydale or not.
Is that finally the end of this post? You betcha.

You mention it’s hard to read. I specifically use a gray Font so your eyeballs don’t bleed with a pure white font. I’m just thoughtful that way.

I’m probably going to tone down the white a bit. It is a little harsh on the eyes.
Yeah, when I first changed to the black background, I used a White font. For 2 minutes.
That’s the time it took for eyes start to water.
Shades of Grey are much softer and easier to read too.

Dan this post was too personal and made me uncomfortable to even know you. Apparently you’re dream is a Freudian manifestation of your wanting to marry Twitter now that human and computer applications getting married is legal in Ohio. It was only a matter of time before we would all see the technological advantages to robot and humans marrying, video games and humans getting married (I know a guy who can’t wait to marry Laura Croft) and you and Twitter. Good luck but I don’t support your marriage to Twitter and I probably never will I liked you better when you were a single blogger and weren’t blathering about how great Twitter is. Holy crap - this is a lot of comments. My hand hurts from scrolling down. It’s late and I’m off to bed but before I go I had to say that the whole hand twisting thing when you drink actually works so that you are drinking out of YOUR OWN glass - it just looks all wrong because the arms are entertwined but you actually drink out of the glass that YOU are holding. So hopefully that puts any fear of marriage out of your mind. But maybe you should find someone who likes water, just in case. You may as well have that in common.

I don’t mind the design, but let me put a stipulation on it. I am viewing the website on a dell laptop which I have proven to see colors differently than regular monitors.
Would I have done that? No, probably not, but I think it works for a site where the pictures are the center point and the text is secondary.
