You have some great advice in this post. If you know what to look for and follow the rules you mentioned, like not following links in emails to log into your email/bank/ebay account, it is pretty easy to spot phishing attempts and avoid them.

Back when I first started selling cars, I would find as many scams on craigslist as I could and get them flagged. It is a never ending battle though and I think my time would have probably been better spent educating people like you are doing in this post.

I agree about Firefox. It is a the best browser on the market and it is free. Plus you have update for it very often. Updates are very important because they are made for new viruses that can reveal your passwords. And of course there are lots of people who are not so good with computers enough to recognize these scams

I suggest everyone to use Firefox. There will be identity check for SSL on the url which is not supported in Internet Explorer. Like you said, some of the links will start with some weird IP address. This is 100% phishing site.

It's too bad that people have nothing better to do with their time, not to mention their talent. I mean you need to be at least a bit technologically savvy to pull some of these off, and there are so many better ways to use those abilities. Sadly, many people aren't technologically knowledgable enough to recognize these scams, which is why posts like this are so important. Hopefully, the word can be spread wide enought to knock these people out of business.
