If you know what to look for and follow the rules you mentioned, like not following links in emails to log into your email/bank/ebay account, it is pretty easy to spot phishing attempts and avoid them. It is a never ending battle though and I think my time would have probably been better spent educating people like you are doing in this post. You have some great advice in this post. I mean you need to be at least a bit technologically savvy to pull some of these off, and there are so many better ways to use those abilities. Sadly, many people aren't technologically knowledgable enough to recognize these scams, which is why posts like this are so important.
