Weekend Project: Economic Video: Day 2

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Almost done!

I just finished taking the last three shots I need to wrap it up. Just need to squeeze those in, and I will be done!

Took the long way of doing a few things. Couldn’t figure out how to do something I thought would be easy, but found another way to do it. Then, in figuring out something else, I found the easy way to do the other thing. I suppose that’s the way of things when you haven’t touched a particular software application in many moons!

I used five applications this weekend that I haven’t used in ages in order to do this video.

I won’t be able to do the gardening post I was planning, but at least I’ll get the video done.

Back to work…

Weekend Project: Economic Video

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

This is just a very brief snippet of what has become my weekend project.

I am making a video. I wrote the script Thursday night, or really Friday morning as it was 2:13 a.m. when I finished it. (Started at 1:55 a.m.)

Took some photos yesterday, and started on the video. I planned to do the audio today, but the video took so long that now the audio will have to be done tomorrow. And, I need the audio done before I can finish the rest of the video.

I plan to wrap up a bit of the video work tonight (the portion that doesn’t rely on the audio), so hopefully I can get it all done tomorrow!

I’ll post it for all to see when I’m done!

Icicles by Moonlight

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Icicles! Icicles! Icicles!
I want to see some icicles! Icicles! Icicles!

I want to see some icicles.
I want to see some ice.
I want to see some icicles.
I want to see them by moonlight.

Tweetablogapaloozabash 2009

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Next week, exact day to be determined, is going to be Tweetablogapaloozabash 2009.

The theme for this year’s Tweetablogapaloozabash is going to be helping your business grow, which is something many of us are interested in doing these days.

What you need to do is recommend a blog or someone to follow on Twitter who provides information to help your business grow. They might offer tips on running your business, tips to expand your business, customer service issues, marketing ideas, motivation, and so on.

You will need to provide their blog URL or their Twitter URL plus a brief description of why people should read their blog or follow them on Twitter. Simple enough?

Okay, here are some rules.

1) You cannot nominate yourself. Sorry.

2) I only want to list people that interact with their readers or followers. If their blog does not allow comments (or only allows comments from other Blogger users or something), their blog does not qualify. Sorry. If they have a gazillion followers on Twitter, but only follow a half-dozen of them back, forget about them. Sorry.

3) By nominating someone and providing a brief description, you are giving me permission to quote you and use your description in my post. If your comments are not for public dissemination, don’t send them to me. (Hint: You might want to include your own Twitter ID and blog URL so I know who you are and so you get credit for your nomination.)

4) You have until 5:00 p.m. EST, Monday, February 9th, 2009 to submit your nominations. One nomination per eMail. Please put “Tweetablogapaloozabash 2009″ in the Subject of your eMail message, or your nomination might be overlooked or end up in the spam folder. Send your eMail to “askdcr AT dcrblogs.com”. Without the quotes, of course, and with an “@” instead of “AT” and no spaces.

What’s the Point?

From time to time on this blog, I link out to other blogs. And, from time to time on Twitter, I give shoutouts to help people meet interesting new people to follow.

Well, instead of sending out dozens of tweets, I figured I’d just roll them all together in one blog post. And, while I’m at it, why not mention blogs as well. And, while I’m at it, why not have a single theme to tie them all together to really give everyone a pack of blogs to read and people to follow on Twitter.

And, instead of just relying on me to pick people from among those I know, why not get my blog readers involved and my Twitter followers involved to identify a whole lot of useful blogs and Twitter users?

So, please, send me your nominations and also retweet so that I can put together a blog post that will really be useful source of new people to follow and blogs to read, all to help build your business!

Deadly Icicles

These icicles sure look like they could be deadly.

The ones photographed melted away. But, after yesterday’s snow, they’re back!!!

What Will the Groundhog See Today?

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

I’m not sure what he might see, but, in any case, spring is only about six weeks away! So, even if you’re surrounded by snow, now is the time to start planning your 2009 garden. I went over some of the basics you should be thinking of in my article, “Spring is Just Around the Corner” over at the Canville Gardens.

Although I didn’t finish everything I had hoped to finish this weekend, I did get a few things done. In addition to the gardening article, I also did an article on “Day-by-Day Information Product Creation” over on the Canville Business Community. Please check it out if you’re struggling with, or thinking about, creating your own information product, such as an eBook.

Top Commentator spots are still open on both of those sites. You don’t want Teeni to have the spots all to herself, do you?

Also, over on my new personal finance blog, Grasp Finance dot Com, Mona Sestert has an article on “Taking Control of Your Credit.” Please feel free to check that one out too! And, note that Top Commentators spots are open there for the taking too!

I guess that’s all I accomplished this weekend. Seemed like more until I typed it all out…

It’s a Long, Hot Winter!

It’s a scorcher out there. Even hotter than yesterday!
