Of course, this may upset one of my fifth grade teachers, because I’m calling it “dirt” rather than “soil.” Hopefully, she’s not reading this blog.

Dirt is suddenly interesting to me, because my friend Kathy (from The Junk Drawer recently came for a visit and commented that the dirt in her home state of Pennsylvania is lighter than our Illinois dirt. Or soil. Sorry.
