No New Pictures = More Traffic?
Ironically, since I have not been able to upload new pictures on here, traffic has been increasing.
If the traffic trend holds, I’ll beat last April in terms of traffic.
So much for all the blogging gurus who recommend pictures as a way to attract readers.
What readers really want is content.
Not that there’s much of that around these parts. LOL.
But, content is the important thing. Words on a page. If you want to share photos, get a Flickr account, I guess.
Also, that’s why you should test things out for yourself and see what brings traffic to your own blog. Don’t take the gurus at face value. Don’t take what I tell you at face value. Try things for yourself and see what happens.
And, yes, this is a short post, but does it really need to be longer? Here’s the summation: Test. Or, “Test for yourself”, but “Test” is shorter.

“What readers really want is content.”
Indeed!
Most blogs really can’t get away with images. People aren’t able to write well enough to captivate an audience more than a line or two. You write well that’s why you get away with it. Reading many of your posts is more like reading a good story. Most blogs read like an instruction manual for a microwave.
You are correct about the content, but I can’t think of why a lack of images would matter. Assuming the same content, just with images included, I would think that would be better. Odd.
Traffic is a funny thing. It really does seem to be related to links. The more backlinks you have, the more Google likes you and the more traffic you get. Certain posts can go crazy too and that increases my traffic for a while. If I look at my stats, I see occasional days and weeks that spike to thousands or tens of thousands of visits. But if I look at long term averages, it has been the same for the past few years, 500 to 700 per day.
