Success September: Summary

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Congratulations!

You are now an Internet millionaire!

What? You’re not?

It’s okay. There is always next month.

At any rate, today is the final day of the month, so you still have a few hours left to try to meet your goal for the month.

After that, it will be a good time to look back at the work you’ve done this month, and see how far you’ve come.

Did you create a product?

Did you build a website?

Did you earn some affiliate sales?

Did you make some money with ads?

Whatever you did, analyze your results and see how you can do better next month.

Did you make $1? Try for $10 next month?

Made $10? Next month try for $100.

Made $100? Next month try for $1,000. Or even just $500. You don’t need to have ten times the progress; you just need to make progress.

Of course, if you’re really hurting for cash, this Internet thing may not be for you. You might have to get a part time job or something to pick up the slack. Otherwise, you’ll need to double or triple your efforts with your online work.

Whatever the case may be, I hope you had a successful September and good luck to you in your future endeavors.

Success September: You May Get What You Don’t Pay For

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

There is what sometimes appears to be a large contingent of people that want to make money online, for free.

That is, they want to be able to learn how to make money online… for free.

They want to get the tools they need to build a website… for free.

They want ideas for what to do for a website… for free.

They want to create a logo… for free.

They want to get content for their website… for free.

They want to create a product to sell… for free.

They want to have the eCommerce tools to sell that product… for free.

They want to promote their product… for free.

They want to make a lot of money without spending any.

While that is possible, it does beg a larger question… If all that can be had for free, can’t your customers get it for free as well?

And, if everything is available for free, how does anyone make any money?

Everyone can’t afford to give their services away, can they?

At any rate, if you’re not willing to pay for anything, there’s a chance your potential customers may not be willing to pay for anything either. Opposites don’t always attract. Sometimes, you attract people just like you. And, if you’re a freebie seeker, you may attract fellow freebie seekers.

Of course, that shouldn’t be an open invitation to spend willy nilly either. You need a plan, and you’ll want to have a budget and pay for things that will help you earn money.

And, yes, somethings are available for free.

But don’t expect to get everything for nothing.

Your prospects may expect the same from you!

Success September: Deconstructing Demotivation

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Some people give up too easily trying to make money online.

Some perhaps tried to sell something that just didn’t have a lot of demand, and then they gave up rather than try something else.

Some perhaps acted on bad advice.

Some perhaps didn’t really do anything than play on the computer and pretend they were doing something productive.

I think that some people were lured by the promise of easy riches and, when they discovered riches didn’t come easily, they lost interest.

Let’s say someone makes $50,000 a year at their job. They want to make money online. Well, they may find that they can make the same amount of money staying at home as they do going to work. But, that’s perhaps not what they really wanted. They didn’t want a second job earning them an additional $50k a year; they wanted to be able to fiddle around a few hours a week on the computer and have $250,000 magically appear in their bank account every year.

Or something like that.

What they were really after wasn’t making a new career out of working online. Rather, it was the desire to make more money than they do now but with far less work.

And when they discover that there is work involved, well, they’d rather just stick with their job.

Or, it could be that the money comes in too slowly for them. Having your own business isn’t the same as having a job. You could get a job and show up for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and, at the end of the week or two-weeks, depending upon the pay period, you are guaranteed a check. You will make money. You will see an immediate benefit to the hours you put in. But, when you run your own business, and that includes an online business, at the end of the week or two weeks, it is highly likely that you won’t see any money. In some cases, you might. But, in many cases, you’re not, especially if you’re doing something like affiliate marketing, where sometimes checks are sent monthly, or 30 days after the sale or something like that.

So, if you want to get into an online business, you have to decide what it is you really want and whether you are willing to stick it out until you become successful at it.

Success September: Procrastination Masked as Timing

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

It’s often an excuse people will use, that they are looking for the right time to launch their product or service or whatever it is they are planning.

Maybe they think the world isn’t ready for their great idea.

Usually, though, it’s that they don’t think their great idea is ready for the world.

Maybe they don’t have the right stuff to pull it off.

Or enough money.

Or time.

Or what have you.

But, rather than do something about it, rather than make time or save money, they put it off.

It’s not the right time, they say.

Meanwhile, someone else may come up the same idea and start implementing it.

And, again the excuse will be that the timing isn’t right. Now that there’s a competitor, they have to bide their time until the time is just right to sneak up on the competition or whatever.

Or, it’s time to give up on that idea and start thinking of a new one, where the cycle will repeat itself.

The time will never be right, because it’s not really the right time that they are looking for.

It’s a reason to not do it.

It’s a reason to procrastinate.

And, maybe it’s because, at some level, they are content with their life as it is now, and don’t want to risk it. Maybe it’s not success that they fear, but that things may end up being worse than they are now.

Look, it’s okay to have a plan. It’s okay to want pieces to fall in place to implement that plan. Sometimes, executing a plan too early can backfire. Just watch a football game to see how timing is important.

But, make sure that your plan of attack isn’t really a plan to procrastinate. It can be a fine line sometimes, so be careful.

Success September: Less Than a Week Left

Friday, September 24th, 2010

September ends next Thursday. Today is half gone, which leaves you with less than a week (six days) to meet your goal for Success September.

And, if you’re not working weekends, you’re left with just four full working days left.

So, how have you been doing?

Have you made more than $500,000 yet, or are you going to have a major launch in the last few days on the month that will take you to the million dollar mark?

In any event, time to stop reading this stuff and get back to work!

And, if you’re not close to your goal and haven’t worked weekends, well, maybe this is the weekend you should pull up your sleeves and work through.

Success September: Remember to Save

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

That’s right: Save.

Save stuff.

Save your plans. Save a back-up. Print a copy. Don’t lose them and make sure you have another copy available in case you do lose them.

Same for your money. Save some. Save more than you think you need to save.

Save.

Save some more.

Keep saving.

Don’t spend until you’ve saved some money.

Unless you have bills to pay.

Anyway, try to save something.
