Success September: Deconstructing Demotivation

Some people give up too easily trying to make money online.

Some perhaps tried to sell something that just didn’t have a lot of demand, and then they gave up rather than try something else.

Some perhaps acted on bad advice.

Some perhaps didn’t really do anything than play on the computer and pretend they were doing something productive.

I think that some people were lured by the promise of easy riches and, when they discovered riches didn’t come easily, they lost interest.

Let’s say someone makes $50,000 a year at their job. They want to make money online. Well, they may find that they can make the same amount of money staying at home as they do going to work. But, that’s perhaps not what they really wanted. They didn’t want a second job earning them an additional $50k a year; they wanted to be able to fiddle around a few hours a week on the computer and have $250,000 magically appear in their bank account every year.

Or something like that.

What they were really after wasn’t making a new career out of working online. Rather, it was the desire to make more money than they do now but with far less work.

And when they discover that there is work involved, well, they’d rather just stick with their job.

Or, it could be that the money comes in too slowly for them. Having your own business isn’t the same as having a job. You could get a job and show up for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and, at the end of the week or two-weeks, depending upon the pay period, you are guaranteed a check. You will make money. You will see an immediate benefit to the hours you put in. But, when you run your own business, and that includes an online business, at the end of the week or two weeks, it is highly likely that you won’t see any money. In some cases, you might. But, in many cases, you’re not, especially if you’re doing something like affiliate marketing, where sometimes checks are sent monthly, or 30 days after the sale or something like that.

So, if you want to get into an online business, you have to decide what it is you really want and whether you are willing to stick it out until you become successful at it.
