What Would You Do…

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

What would you do with Tuesday’s parrot?

If he from a long lost relative you did inherit?

Would you feed to him Wednesday’s carrot?

Would you give him a Medal of Merit?

Or would you tease him with Thursday’s ferret?

Would you turn him in to Lieutenant Commander McGarrett?

Would you give to him a ring of gold of twenty-four karat?

If he went potty on your head, would you him demerit?

Oh, what would you do with Tuesday’s parrot?

Another Baby Bird

Baby Bird

Saw another baby bird while trimming the bushes on Saturday. This one, I believe, is some type of small sparrow. I didn’t get a good look at the parent. The first time I saw the nest, the baby bird was alone. The second time, after accidentally hitting the branch the nest was on and checking to see if the baby was okay, the parent was there but quickly jumped out of the nest.

The third time was when I got the camera, and the parent was on a fence several feet away. I couldn’t get a good look or shot of it. When I took the picture, the slightest noise made the hungry baby bird open its mouth in the hopes of a meal.

The other nest with baby birds that I photographed last weekend is already empty. There was no mess of feathers on the ground, so I’m pretty sure they’re off on their own now, rather than having been some critter’s meal.

WordPress actually let me upload this picture. It seems random as to whether or not it’ll let me upload.

Sunshine At Last

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

Yay.

Two days of sunshine in a row.

Hotter than heck, but beats all the rain.

Of course, rain is supposed to come again on Wednesday. Another forecast says rain possible on Thursday. Another says Wednesday and Thursday.

So, hopefully, two or three more days of sunshine.

After that, all forecasts agree on sunshine all the other days for the next ten days.

Maybe that’ll give the ground time to dry out so the backyard isn’t a swamp.

Your Friend Recommends to You This Blog

Saturday, May 28th, 2011

Dear [YOURNAMEHERE],

Your friend, William R. Shuttersgrass, has recommended you read this blog.

Oh, I know you think this message may be spam because you’ve never heard of a William R. Shuttersgrass, but I assure you he knows you quite well, and you should be ashamed of yourself for having forgotten all about Mr. Shuttersgrass and all that he’s done for you over the years.

Including recommending that you read this blog.

Of course, now he is going to be mighty upset with you that you have forgotten him. He had thought that the lack of Christmas cards these past 19 years were the fault of the post office and not because you had forgotten him.

Shame! SHAME!

Poor Mr. William R. Shuttersgrass has been a widower these past eight years, and the only thing that kept him going was his presumed friendship with you.

And, now you say you don’t even remember him!

You better think hard, because I don’t know what this news might do to Mr. Shuttersgrass. It may break his heart.

And, how would that make you feel?

I am disappointed in you for having forgotten William R. Shuttersgrass and his importance in your life.

Sincerely disappointed,
[YOURFRIENDSNAMEHERE]

Hitting the Brick Wall

Brick Wall

Ever feel like you’re hitting a brick wall with what you do?

Yeah.

Doubly-so when you pick out a photo, crop it, save it and then WordPress won’t let you upload it, forcing you to upload it through your website’s control panel instead of through WordPress. Stupid WordPress.

Close Call

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

Thankfully, my neighborhood escaped relatively unscathed from yesterday’s thunderstorms.

It was a bit worrisome watching the one big tree in the front yard twist in the wind. It survived the windstorms we had from Hurricane Ike, but it’s obviously grown since then and it seemed to be twisting in quite unnatural ways.

But, it’s still standing with no broken branches.

Whew.

A house lost its second floor due to a tornado in a neighboring community. The homeowners were lucky that their daughter had woken up due to the storms, because otherwise they would have all been asleep. They had apparently gone to bed after getting the “all clear” from the TV news. (They must have been watching a different station than I was, because the station I was watching didn’t give an “all clear” until about an hour after they reportedly went to bed.)

Worst Facebook Profile Ever

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

Oh, my!

There was a discussion and poll on another website (which shall remain nameless here!) to determine the worst Facebook profile out there.

I don’t know what criteria they used, but they had nominations and put it to a vote.

I did not participate in this at all.

At any rate, the “winner” (or loser, actually) is ONE OF MY READERS!

Holy cow! Right?

I won’t name that person here, but just provide a link to the worst Facebook profile ever! You’ll need to click the link to see if this profile belongs to one of your friends or blog readers.

It’s shocking. How could they vote that as the worst Facebook profile ever?

A Bird in the Hand is Worth Four in the Bush

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Baby Robins

So, I was going to trim down a bush (actually a tree, but it’s trimmed to bush size) outside the back window this weekend, but what did I find there?

Well, you already know because of the title and the fact that I put the picture prior to the text instead of after.

So, I spoiled the surprise for you already.

Anyway, I ended up not trimming the bush, so they could continue to feel safe.

Though the parents did not appreciate it when I went back to take pictures.

The World Keeps Spinning

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

The world didn’t end yesterday.

Still no word from the guy that predicted yesterday would be the Rapture.

Then again, maybe we’re all bad and none of us deserved to be saved.

Which means we have until October (maybe) to straighten out.

The thing is, though, that no one can be sure of when the world might end.

So, if you’re concerned about getting into heaven or just don’t want to miss out on spending more time with loved ones, the time to do something about it is now. Don’t wait until some presumed end of the world prediction to tell people you care.

People die every day. Deaths due to illness and age may be predictable and give family and friends time to spend some last months or even days together, but accidents come unexpectedly. Your personal end of the world could come seconds from now or years from now.

Take time to spell the flowers.
