Close Call
Thankfully, my neighborhood escaped relatively unscathed from yesterday’s thunderstorms.
It was a bit worrisome watching the one big tree in the front yard twist in the wind. It survived the windstorms we had from Hurricane Ike, but it’s obviously grown since then and it seemed to be twisting in quite unnatural ways.
But, it’s still standing with no broken branches.
Whew.
A house lost its second floor due to a tornado in a neighboring community. The homeowners were lucky that their daughter had woken up due to the storms, because otherwise they would have all been asleep. They had apparently gone to bed after getting the “all clear” from the TV news. (They must have been watching a different station than I was, because the station I was watching didn’t give an “all clear” until about an hour after they reportedly went to bed.)
