Hickory Heinz

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

Hickory Heinz* was a small boy.

A boy so small, he fit inside a glove.

The glove, though, was slightly oversized, so the boy wasn’t so small after all.

But he thought small.

So he stayed small.

But, then one day, he discovered the glove didn’t fit.

And he felt big.

And he thought bigger.

And he went out and did big things.

And he never knew his parents had gone and switched gloves on him.

*Completely made-up name. Any similarity to any person, living or dead or fictional, is completely coincidental.

Limits Unlimited

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

The limit of the limit is unlimited unless the unlimited limits are limited.

Until they are unlimited when they are limited by having no limits.

But, if you were to make limits unlimited, would they be limited by the limitations of the unlimited limits?

Or would the limits be unlimited by the lack of limitations of the limited unlimited limits?

Never let your limits leave you limited!

Turn your limits into unlimited potential of limited limitations that are ultimately unlimited by their limitlessness.

And such is the limits of the unlimited limits.

Monday Madness

Monday, July 18th, 2011

Okay, so I am working on this project still…

Anticipated launch date is tomorrow, and I still have a ton of things to do on it.

So, it may end up being LATE tomorrow.

Don’t know.

I’d like to get it going first thing in the morning, but not sure if I’ll have the time to get everything set to go by then.

Well, better get back to it…

Busyness

Sunday, July 17th, 2011

Been busy this weekend.

Working on a little project for release (hopefully!) on Tuesday.

Well, I need to get back to that, so I will cut this short.

Cut.

Short.

Done.

Grassy Field of Dreams

Grassy Field

Well, four years ago, my second day of posting on this blog was with a nature picture (a tree), so I figured I’d do that for the second day of my fourth anniversary.

Hello Again World!

Friday, July 15th, 2011

Four years ago today, I started this blog with a simple post: “Hello World!

It was a Sunday. This time, it’s a Friday.

The first comment on my blog, which occurred just one day after my first post, was from Michael Kwan. He’s still actively blogging.

Many of the other early commenters are not. There are a few still around, though their sites have changed over the years and, with some of them, I’m not sure if they are being run by the same person or not.

This blog started out as danBlogs.com. Less than two weeks later, I changed it to dcrBlogs.com.

It started out with a bit of silliness, then got serious, got silly, delved back into serious and has now descended into general silliness. So, it’s come full circle.

Today is also my 1,200 day of consecutive daily blogging. There have been some bumps along the road–Internet and power outages and whatnot–but I have counted it so long as I had a post ready to go. At any rate, I’m not going for, nor am I likely to get, a Guinness World Record here, so I am not going to worry too much over technicalities.

I had planned to announce that today would be the end of my daily blogging. Lately, my posts have been lame anyway. But, maybe I’ll stick it out for another 50 days. I wrote here that I wouldn’t likely go for either 2,000 or 1,500, but maybe 1,250. Well, I’m fifty days shy of that, which is under two months, so I might as well go for 1,250, right?

If a Toy Had a Seam

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

If a toy had a seam, for a moment would you think that it’s glue?

Or would you think twice about buying it for you?

Would you take it apart, try to put it together tighter?

Would you do that before Christmas, pulling an all-nighter?

Or would you let the little boy feel so blue?

Are you going to smash his heart, make him cry over stew?

Or would you steam fry some vegetables in a chicken broth?

Would cook them well, especially after you stirred in a moth?

Do you even think your family would have a clue?

Over what got slipped in their chicken stew?

Do you it would be hidden within all the froth?

The Elusive Chapter XI

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

Thus far, I am 386 words into Chapter XI.

Slow going. Guess I’ve got too many other things on my mind right now.

But, I am trying!

Had 100 words before Monday night.

Which, for those of you bad at math, means I wrote a whopping 286 words Monday night.

Didn’t write anything last night, though I did think about it.

I think that should count for something.

Doesn’t it?

Peas and Popcorn

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

Peas and popcorn, peas and popcorn.

Cheese and fees, cheese and fees.

Summertime in the winter, summertime in the winter.

Oh, my my.

Oh, my my.

Peas and popcorn, peas and popcorn.

Drink your teas, tasty leaves.

Jump down in the barrel, jump down in the barrel.

Squishy gel.

Squishy gel.

Peas and popcorn, peas and popcorn.

Grow some seeds. Plant your trees.

Go hopping through the sprinkler.

If you please.

If you please.
